The University of Melbourne is currently entering the NI Autonomous Robotics competition. This competition organizes universities in Australia and New Zealand to compete and showcase their solution to controlled problem that must be solved by an autonomous robot.
This year the task is agriculturally themed. The team must create a robot that can maneuver to collect seeds in a littered environment autonomously, including wireless communication and navigation capability. The team is assessed on ability to locate, collect and deliver seeds followed by a successful return to a home location.
Goals of the project includes:
- participation in the National Instruments competition
- implement intelligent machine systems
- development of autonomous robot for controlled problem scenario
