Projects

Multicopter Program

The overarching goal of the Multicopter projects is to develop a flying platform capable of cinematography filming, which can be either piloted easily by an operator or follow a preprogrammed course. The project is one among many available through the Final Year Capstone Project at the University of Melbourne. The Capstone Project involves undertaking a substantial workload requiring an independent investigation on an approved topic and available to engineering students.

The Multicopter project is a collaborative effort between the University of Melbourne final year engineering students, the Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative (VeRSI) and industry partner, eAustralis Pty Ltd, and focuses on developing platforms for remote 3D sensing and imaging applications.

Goals

Goals of the project includes:

  • design and development of custom Multicopters
  • implement autonomous flight
  • customize sensors for vineyard purposes
  • create stable flying platform to gather sensory data
